The Rain of The Holy Spirit

The sun is coming up. It’s s new day. The birds are singing. In every country I have been to I hear the birdsong every morning. Behind prison bars one can hear. If one’s heart is heavy the sound of the birdsong lifts one up. Life is all around.

Yesterday was Father’s day. If you remembered your dad on Father’s Day and got in touch well done. Better still honouring your father comes with a promise. It will go well with you and you will live a long life.

I was on holiday in Florida for my fiftieth birthday, a present from my family. I was talking to a lady in a store, saying I was from Ireland and that I had fourteen children. She said Oh your poor husband. She understood the difficulty of rearing a big family.

It was only when I had children of my own that I appreciated my father and mother’s sacrifice in rearing us. It can be too late to thank them or say you love them. Often people die of a broken heart, sad because of loneliness or not hearing from family.

Whether a father, a son or a daughter take heart. God promises to pour his Spirit out on you today. You need never be alone.

I joined with the birds in singing this morning. I remembered the chorus.

It’s beginning to rai-ai-ain-hear the the voice of my father-
He’s saying who so ever will, come and drink of my water-
He’s promised to pour his spirit out, on your sons and your daughters-
If your thisty and dry, look up to the sky, it’s beginning to rain!

At that first drop of rain that you start to hear, throw open the windows-
Call all your children together, and throw wide the door!
When the rains of the spirit are starting to fall, fill every vessal-
He who drinks his fill, will thirst no more!

It’s beginning to rain- hear the voice of my Father-
He’s saying who so ever will come and drink of my water!
He’s promised! To pour his spirit out, on your sons and your daughters!

God sends the rain for the farmers to plant crops in springtime . I believe this springtime God is pouring out the rain of the Holy Spirit on his people. We are weary, sick and sad after the long lockdown. People need new hope and life and love.

Look up. It’s beginning to rain over you.

You Will Never Thirst Again

Where am I?

You can find me on Google map. We had someone visit us recently. Before she came she checked out our address on google map . When she arrived she kept looking up at a neighbour’s chimney. She said where is the tree? On google map she had noticed a small sapling growing out of a chimney. You’ll be pleased to say it was removed earlier in the year. The whole chimney had to be dismantled and rebuilt at great expense to the owner.

Back to this morning. I having coffee in my local Cafe Nero’s. Outside the window two lorries parked up. Men unloaded disbatches of boxes of alcohol to the neighbouring shop, an off licence. Plenty of bottles of wine, cans of larger and spirits. The shop is restocking its supplies for the holiday weekend.

Many people are thirsty. Will the alcoholic drinks quench their thirst? No they don’t. Next day one can awake and be thirsty again. Jesus said to the woman at the well He would give her water she would never thirst again. What is this water?

The Holy Spirit is the water Jesus promised. Believe in Jesus and receive this water that will quench your thirsty soul. The water will bring healing, restoration, refreshing and new life. It doesn’t bring a hangover or pain or guilt.

What is so special about this weekend. Do you know? To me it is very special. I am reminded of the One who came from heaven to live and show me that God is my Father. He died for me on the cross, rose from the dead and sent the Holy Spirit to help me and comfort me and lead me into truth. He raised me from nearly dying of cancer and I am alive.

Effective Prayer

Mark 11 v 22
Jesus said to his disciples have faith in God. Listen to me. You can pray for anything and if you believe you can have it. All that’s required is that you really believe and do not doubt in your heart. But when you are praying first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins.

Let me pray for you.


Dear Heavenly Father, creator of the universe thank you for sending your son Jesus on the earth . In John 6 v 44 Jesus says no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them them up at the last day. Please draw whoever reads this post to Jesus. Give each one a revelation of Christ your son. Give them the gift of faith. And help them to pray to you, especially when there is no one to help them. Amen

To anyone who dreams, his book will inspire and help you to pay attention and believe in your dreams.

Brendan explains in his book how God used dreams to reveal His plan to redeem mankind from the destruction that happened in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve sinned, gave their authority over the Earth to Satan, death resulted and they were put out of the garden.

The good news is that God had a plan to restore the kingdom of God on the Earth. He used Abraham’s family and his descendants to bring Jesus on the Earth.

The Word

John 1 v 1 and 14. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. He was full of grace and truth.


This weekend we celebrate Christmas, the day when we remember that Jesus, the Saviour of the world was born. He was a baby lying in a manger in a stable. That little baby is the Word of God made flesh.


Two thousand years later, is Christmas real for to us today? Is it just a time to eat, drink and meet with friends and family?


God left us His Word in the Scriptures. The New Testament tells us the stories about Jesus life and the stories written by witnesses who lived with him on earth. The power of God is in the Word of God that we read in the Bible.


It changed me. I was given a bible by a publican, Harry Mc Court. I had free time so I began to read it from Genesis to Revelation. The power of God changed my heart as I read it. The Word of God is the true Light that gives light to every man. The words I read were giving light and truth to my soul. I believed that Jesus is the truth from that time until now.


Perhaps you attend Church and you already believe in Jesus. Praise God. To grow in faith read the scriptures for yourself. It will enlighten you and show you what is true.


The bible is a small book. I can guarantee if you read it sincerely you will be changed. The power and light of God will touch you. What God has done for me He can do for you. Start out on your journey this Christmas. Meet the Word who became flesh, today.

The Holy Spirit

I was reading this morning from Luke 10 v 11You fathers if your children ask for a fish will you give him a snake. Of course not. If you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?

Many young boys and fathers love football. They have their favourite team. They watch matches and cheer when they win. Their dream is to get to play for a famous team.

There is a big difference in experience from watching football on TV in the comfort of your home to actually playing the game. My sons loved football and played with their school and local team.

It meant staying after school and turning up for training sessions in all kind of weather. It meant getting a few disappointments when they didn’t win. It meant sore muscles and bruises. But if they endured they got to play football in the team and experience the success when they won.

Today is Easter Sunday. We hear stories about Jesus who rose from the dead two thousand years ago. But what relevance is that to us today in 2021?

If you want to be a partaker in knowing more about this man Jesus one needs to engage with his game. We can look on and enjoy Easter ceremonies with smells and bells of Church activity but it may not mean much.

This man Jesus left us his legacy which you can read for yourself in the New Testament. If you believe what he says you can ask him to reveal himself to you personally. He will answer if you keep on asking.

Then you may believe that Jesus died for you to forgive your sins and he can heal you. You are a step closer to playing on Jesus team.

Today we remember Jesus rising from the grave. He then went to heaven. The Father released the Holy Spirit as Jesus asked Him. The Holy Spirit is given to us for us to get to play the Jesus game.

The Holy Spirit will give us the power to defeat the other team, the devil’s. We are sure to win all the time when we engage to fight the enemy.

Keep training by reading God’s Word, Ask God to give you His Holy Spirit. Keep on asking till you receive. Then use your gift of Tongues to pray. Satan runs when you pray in the Holy Spirit. God will give you understanding of the scriptures and He will speak to you through His Word. He also speaks through dreams and prophecy.

Do you want victory? Do you want your desires met? Then engage in the play. Do you want life to pass you by from year to year without good changes? Jesus promises to give you life abundantly.

He has defeated Satan who comes to rob, steal and destroy. Jesus defeated Satan when He died on that cross. His Blood flowed down from his head, his back, his hands and his feet. By his stripes you are healed,

I sought out Jesus forty three years ago. I have kept on seeking him in my life. He is true. He is good. He is faithful. He will help you win your battles in this world. You will never be alone again.

God reveal yourself to my readers today in 2021.

Jesus is Returning Soon

Two thousand years ago Peter, Jesus disciple, reminded us that God created the heavens and the earth. He tells us these same heavens will pass away and the earth and everything on it will deserve judgement. On that day God will set the heavens on fire and the elements will melt away in flames. God promises a new heaven and a new earth for those who believe in his Son Jesus.

Peter says in the same passage that with God a thousand years is like a day. So two days have passed since Jesus died for us. This present earth will pass away sooner rather than later. God is merciful giving us an opportunity to believe in Jesus and live forever in his new heaven and earth. Get ready for his return.

He is not a baby in a manger any longer. He is not in the grave any more. He is alive with wounds on his hands and feet. He is seated in heaven beside his Father. He is coming in the sky with his angels. His people will rise from their graves. Those who are alive will be taken up to him in the sky.

When Jesus was on earth He healed the sick and cast out demons. His power is at work today. I am healed from fourth stage cancer by the power of Jesus. I know He is real. Believe in the signs He has done.

Daniel 6 v 26 and 27. Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den. They didn’t harm him. God shut up the mouth of the lions. The king said I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble in fear before the God of Daniel. For he is the living God, and he will endure forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed, and his rule will never end.
He rescues and saves his people; he performs miraculous signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.
I believe in the same God as Daniel. He is God today and forever. He is the same God who healed me and gave me the power to rear fourteen children. Look up and look for Jesus return. Believe in Jesus.

Stay in His Presence

God’s word tells us where two or three are gathered in my name there he is in the midst of us.

Just meditate on that. Welcome his presence. Enjoy his presence. Take time to stay in his presence and enjoy being with God as you acknowledge him. Don’t run away to the busyness of work, shopping, demands of others. You will soon run out of energy and feel empty. Stop and and breath in God’s presence. Acknowledge what Jesus has done for you and thank him. He is our saviour, he is the Messiah, He died in our place. He forgives our sins and heals our anxieties and worries. He gives us peace. There is no other God.

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit have helped me in my life. The power of the Holy Spirit has given me the strength to live and rear fourteen children. He has given me the strength to be healed and remain healed of cancer. I live and move and have my being in God. He gives me authority over all the power of the devil and nothing will harm me.
He gives me power to forgive those who hurt me. He gives me love to love myself and others. I don’t have to strive to receive his goodness. I learn to receive and let him change the things I can’t change in me or in those who are near to me.

He fights for me. Just like God did for kings of Israel when their enemies came up against them, God sent angels to fight against those that were gathered up against them and spoke against them.

Things may be falling around us in the world. Don’t worry. Open up, look up and ask God to help. If one draws near to God he will draw near to us. Don’t stand afar because of guilt or condemnation. God doesn’t judge, he forgives and remembers your sins no more. It’s the devil who brings to mind your sins and makes you feel condemned. Jesus is the light of the world he is shining brighter than the sun. He wants you to receive him today and stay in his presence forever from this day and into the life after death.

He puts you in family. You are not alone. Join with others who believe. Remember where two or three are gathered in his name God is present.

Where is Love?

Some people say I am always quoting from the Old Testament. You are old fashioned. Speak to us for the New Testament. They tell me, “Jesus spoke to us about love. He said to love your neighbour. It’s not loving your neighbour if you condemn him to hell if he isn’t obeying the commandments.”

We have got mixed up about love. Jesus said Greater love has no man but he lays down his life for another. John 15 v 13. Making one feel good, don’t say anything to upset anyone isn’t what Jesus meant. He said he came to bring division. Even a household will be divided against itself.  Jesus is our example.  He will never ask us to do anything he has not already done.  He gave his life, he died on the cross for us.  He served his disciples while he was alive.

Well I was reading from the New Testament this morning. Here is what I read.

““Dear friends, don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot do any more to you after that. But I’ll tell you whom to fear. Fear God, who has the power to kill you and then throw you into hell. Yes, he’s the one to fear.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:4-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are not living just for this life. There is life after death. Jesus came to tell us about the Father God who gives eternal life in heaven if we believe in him and obey him. If we don’t believe in Jesus we are condemned to hell. I choose to live on the earth believing in Jesus and his Father and obeying him. I have the promise of going to heaven when I die.

Please take this opportunity to believe in Jesus and follow him.  You will have eternal life in heaven as you remain in Jesus.

Healing the Wounds

The season has changed.  This weekend the clocksgo back.  I went outside and looked up at the full moon high in the sky.  It was lighting up the land and sea below. I spent a few moments marvelling at the beauty all around. Praise The Lord maker of heaven and earth.  I didn’t stay too long in the chilly air. I headed off to bed looking forward to the extra hour under the blankets.

Here at my home in Northern Ireland it is a beautiful day. The sky is blue and clear of clouds. The sun is shining brightly, yes more brightly than normal. It shouldn’t be so warm at the end of October! The yachts and boats that were moored in the bay have gone.  The owners brought them to the harbour.  They have been hoisted out by a crane a few days ago.  It’s time to store the craft for the winter.

My grandchildren are visiting. It is warm outside, the air still and the water surface like glass. The conditions tempted the children to go down to the shore. It is a perfect day to go messing about in the water. They persuaded grandad to help them put our boat in the water again. It is a small yellow pedalo. It glides quietly over the water. No need for oars, sails or an engine. Just turn the pedals with your feet. Our grandchildren have such fun in it. No need to own an expensive yacht. The only equipment each one needs is a life jacket. Supervised from the shore by grandad and their mum, the children paddled effortlessly up and down the bay till their hearts were content.

I am reminded of the scripture,

“The light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be seven times brighter, in the day that the Lord binds up the breach of his people, and heals their wounds.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭30:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As I am writing this I hears the calls of some birds overhead.  I look up.  It is a chevron of seventeen swans flying south.  They must have taken advantage of the perfect weather conditions, light by day and night to migrate south for the winter.

I am nursing a broken arm. It is very painful. I am feeling helpless and miserable. I fell from a stepladder as it crashed under me. My right arm and bottom took the full impact. Today, three weeks on I am encouraged by God’s word. My wounds will heal.

If you are feeling discouraged, are sick or heavy burdened don’t despair.  Look up.  See creation all around.  Your Heavenly Father who created all this beauty cares for you.  Through believing in his son Jesus you will be healed.   It’s time for your breaks and wounds to heal.
