Being a Parent

Being parents is a difficult calling.
The first couple Adam and Eve had two sons, Cain and Abel. They were happy cuddly babies, grew up and were nurtured with their mum and dad. They would have told their sons about their former life in the garden of Eden when they walked with God in the cool of the evening.

After being put out of the garden they had to work the land to live.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God He covered their nakedness with animal skins. Cain worked the earth and Abel worked with the animals. God was pleased with Abel’s sacrifice of a lamb. Cain brought vegetables. Cain became jealous of Abel and killed him. God banished Cain to roam from place to place. Adam and Eve lost their two sons. What sorrow!

Have you often wondered how things haven’t worked out the way you planned for your children? How did a much loved child turn out to get trapped in trouble, addiction and bondage?

Let’s remember Adam and Eve in the garden. Satan came and tempted them, told them lies, deceived them. He said it will be good for you. Satan appealed to their flesh. They believed his lies and sinned. They had free will. God didn’t create them to be robots to obey him all the time. He gave them choices. He showed them his goodness.

As a result of their choice they were put out of the Garden of Eden. Their choice to believe Satan brought trouble on their children. Sin entered their children.
We are born into this world and trouble is sure to come to us.

We are born with sin in our hearts. You don’t have to teach a child to lie or fight. This is sin. Satan has power over mankind. He is still deceiving mankind.

God knows the pain of being a Father. He sent his son Jesus to us as a human being. He lived among us and showed us his father’s goodness. He forgave sinners, healed diseases and delivered people from demons. He did not sin. He was crucified for doing the works of God and came to destroy the works of the devil.

By believing in Jesus and obeying him you can become free from the bondage of sin. Your diseases can be healed. You can be set free from demons. Satan will not rule over you. Your children after you will be blessed. They too can be free from hatred and all sin.

Hatred entered Cain’s heart for his brother. His hatred ended in murder.
Remember what you do as a parent affects your children after you. Adam and Eve’s sin affected their children.

You have a choice? Choose this day whom you serve. As Dylan said in his song, you’ve got to serve somebody. It may be the devil, it may be the Lord but you got to serve somebody. Set yourself free.

Jesus offers forgiveness for your sins. Knowing his forgiveness then we have to extend his forgiveness to others. Don’t seek revenge like Cain. This is the difficult part in following Jesus. But he gives us the power to forgive.

A lone winter rose.

Choosing a Wife

Reprinted from a comment on Facebook.

Where does your wife fit. This is good advice for men. Often they want a traditional wife who cooks, cleans, looks after the house and children.

Life values change from country to country. This article doesn’t even address if you want children. Getting a wife is good but if you want children choose carefully.

  • When choosing a woman who works, you have to accept that she can’t handle the house.

*If you have chosen a housewife who can take care of you and manage your home completely, you must accept that she doesn’t earn money.

  • If you choose an obedient woman, you must accept that she depends on you and you must secure her life.

*If you decide to be with a strong woman, you have to accept that she is tough and has her own opinion..

  • If you choose a beautiful woman, you will have to accept great expenses.
  • If you decide to be with a successful woman, you must understand that she has character and has her own goals and ambitions.

Perfect doesn’t exist. Everyone has their own enigma, which makes us unique.

Jesus disciples were arguing among themselves who was the greatest. Jesus took a little child and said, however becomes like one of these will be greatest in the kingdom of God…

We need the Holy Spirit to guide one in the midst of the complexities of life.

His ways are not man’s ways.

Do Not Doubt

Do not Doubt that Jesus died and is alive today to heal you.

Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

You may not see Jesus but blessed are you who believe yet have not seen.

It is said that Thomas later went to India. His influence can be seen in Kerala the most Christian state in all of India.

Today Jesus will meet you where you don’t believe. Ask him to reveal himself to you again. Thomas did believe in Jesus before. But had turned away because Jesus had left. If you once believed in Jesus return and Jesus will bring you forward.

All God’s Bible Dreams

I am reading my husband Brendan’s book ,
All God’s Bible Dreams.
It is for sale on Kindle and a hard copy on Amazon.
For anyone interested in dreams it is a must have book. Peter and Joel in the bible said I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants, both men and women,

These are days when God is speaking to people through dreams. If you dream a dream don’t ignore it. God may be getting your attention.

Brendan’s book has revelations that help one understand the Bible, the importance of the Jewish people, the importance of dreams and how the dreams in the Old Testament helped to preserve a people who could receive Jesus.

Brendan spent three years writing and was told in a dream to write it. This book is full of treasure. The chapter on Sleep and Dreams is very valuable in itself. It is just one chapter of many. Each chapter can stand alone with information.

I am reading Brendan’s book on Kindle. I can scroll through the chapters easily, day or night, flying in an aeroplane, or waiting for someone.

God is not dead. No He is alive and wants to talk to each one of us. He loves us and does not want anyone to perish. Here is a link to the book.

Gurus

Gurus

April has just ended and with it our tulip blossoms fell to the ground. They faded away. They put on a beautiful display for the past six weeks.

Nowadays we have access to information more than ever before. The Church, the library, the newspaper or museum used to be places where we found information.

Now we have television, radio, I player, podcasts, utube, twitter, instagram and Facebook to choose from and they can be used twenty four hours a day. I haven’t time to take it all in.

The individual has so many choices to make about what he believes. He can follow someone on utube who is giving his slant on world affairs. Many such speakers have a following of young men and women who are looking for meaning in this confused world or someone to agree with. Such leaders become Gurus to their followers. These young people will often spend a lot of money to go and see their hero.

They don’t know the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. His words have power and stand forever. From generation He guides those who follow and believe in him. He does not lie.

If you are seeking the truth with all your heart you will end up finding Jesus. You may spend many years following this person or another. Man will fail you.

1 Peter 1: 24 says

All men are like grass and all their glory is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall but the Word of the Lord stands forever.

Doubting Thomas

When the doctor examined me he found a nine cm tumour in my bowel. There is a team of cancer medical staff who decide what is the best treatment for a patient. They decided to give me five weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy to reduce the tumour. Then they would operate to remove the tumour and cut away part of my bowel and insert a stoma to remove waste.

I was invited to the hospital to talk about my operation. The kind nurses showed me how to use a stoma, and tried to reassure me that many people adapt to using a stoma. I was not convinced. I didn’t want an operation to open me up and leave me with a hole there. I thought back to the story of Thomas in the bible.

Jesus had been crucified and His followers were afraid the Romans would come looking for them. They were hiding in an upper room. Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

I believe the words of scripture that says By his stripes I am healed. Isaiah 53. Jesus had a wound in His side big enough for a man’s hand to fit in. He died on the cross to heal my disease.

I prayed Lord Jesus you were pierced for my transgression. A soldier opened up your side with his sword and water gushed out. You took my pain and disease so I can be healed and not have an operation to open up my side. I received faith to believe I would be healed and not need an operation.

Four months later a doctor examined me. The tumour was gone and I didn’t need an operation. Praise God. Like the woman who had an issue of blood and touched Jesus I was healed by the power of God. You too can be healed by believing in Jesus like Thomas.

You may not see Jesus but blessed are you who believe yet have not seen.

Cancer Cells Mutate

I was watching two programmes about people who had cancer here in the UK. One was about Dame Deborah James. She fought cancer with the help of the latest treatment, drugs, the love of her family and doing things that brought her joy. She campaigned for five years before her death advocating for others to get tested early for cancer. She set up a fund to raise money to help patients with cancer. It raised one million in the first twenty four hours. She was courageous to the end.

The other programme was about research using Car T-cell treatment. Dr Martin leads the research and speaks in his programme , War in the blood, a cure for cancer. The treatment helped his patients initially using the patients own blood cells that attack disease in the blood. But the cancer cells mutated. The patients’ new cells became ineffective.

All the families involved shared their journey on camera, their hopes, fears and sadness.

I am so grateful to be alive after having fourth stage bowel cancer. The doctors and nursing staff treated me with tender love and care each time I attended hospital. They knew what I faced in having cancer.

My family and others prayed for me. I believe that Jesus heals today. In the past before the development of science to treat diseases, people who were sick went to church for prayer. Scripture says call the elders. They will anoint you with oil and you will be healed.

James 5 v 14
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

These words are not my own. These words are inspired by the Holy Spirit to tell people the truth. Jesus is the way, truth and the life. God is not dead. He does not change. He is the same God yesterday and forever. His word gives us guidelines how to live. The prayers of others healed me.

Seek Him and you will find Him. The God who healed me created the heavens and the earth. I include a photo taken of a display of beauty over Alaska taken by Todd Sinard.

All Hail The Lamb

All hail the Lamb
Enthroned on high
His praise shall be our battle cry
His name is Jesus

These words from a hymn remind me of Easter. What is the popular food eaten on Easter Sunday by people who don’t even know what Easter means? Roast Lamb.

The people of Israel ate roast lamb on the night before their deliverance from slavery in Egypt. They were set free to worship their God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The angel of death passed over their homes. All the first born in Egypt died.

Many years later Jesus died a cruel death on the cross, the very day of the Festval when the Jews celebrated their deliverance from Egypt. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, although He was innocent of crime. He set us free from the power of Satan and took the keys of death and sin from him. By believing in Jesus we pass from death to life, freedom indeed.

All hail the Lamb.

Dancing in Jerusalem

I was reading today from Acts 2.
Brendan and I visited the Upper Room which is historically know to be where the disciples met together after Jesus ascended into heaven.

We met a group of believers from Brazil praising God in the Upper Toom. Brendan and I joined in their dancing. I noticed a lady beside me who was weak. I asked did anyone need prayer for healing. I offered to pray. Many of the group gathered around me and I prayed in Jesus name for them. It was a special time.

There are two important feasts the Jews celebrated. Firstly the Passover, to remember the freedom from Egypt. Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead on the weekend of Passover.

Secondly the Shavuot which is fifty days after Passover. It was to remember Moses receiving the Ten Commandments. All Jewish men were required to come to the Temple in Jerusalem on these feast days. It is interesting to read that there were Jews in the city from as far away as Pakistan, Egypt and Rome.

Before Jesus ascended into heaven He told his disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the gift The Father had promised. They were baptised with the Holy Spirit at Shavnot, know to us as Pentecost. They spoke in new languages.

When the disciples went down among the men who were gathered from the nations they were speaking in new languages. The men from the nations heard their own language from the disciples who were praising God.

Peter explained what had happened to Jesus and that he was the Messiah the Jews were waiting for. Three thousand people believed Peter that day. Among them were Jews from all the nations. These new believers brought the gospel back home to the nations they lived in. That was the beginning of the gospel being spread to the nations.

The Father poured out thd Holy Spirit when Jews from the nations were gathered. God’s timing is perfect.

Over two thousand years since then we are waiting for Jesus return to earth. He spoke to his disciples about it. He said there will be earthquakes and wars. But only The Father knows the time of Jesus return. God’s timing again will be perfect.

Are you Hated?

Here is the story of a man who was misunderstood and suffered much rejection. Perhaps you can identify with him.

His name is Joseph. He came from a big family, thirteen in fact. He had dreams from God . His Father favoured him and made him a beautiful coat. He was about 18 when this happened. His brothers hated him and put him down a well intending to leave him there to die.
Instead they took him out of the well and sold him to passing traders who sold him as a slave in Egypt.

But God was with him and gave him favour with his master, Potiphar. Joseph was put in charge of Potiphar’s household. All his household affairs went smoothly and He didn’t have a thing to worry about.

Joseph was a handsome and well built young man. Potiphar wife desired him but He ran away and got blamed in the wrong and was put in prison.
.
When he was put in prison God was with him there too and he was granted favor with the jailer. He had no more worries because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him making everything run smoothly and successfully.

Despite being hated by his brothers and being far away from his father, who thought he was dead, God comforted him and blessed him whether in the palace or in jail,

Take heart anyone today who feels like Joseph, rejected and hated. Believe in Jesus. He promises to those who are open to his teaching more understanding and knowledge. Matt 12 v 12.

God is with you and will give you favor in whatever situation you are in; home, school, prison, or workplace. You will get promotion and you will prosper.
