Count your blessings.

There is a hymn that was written over a hundred years ago. It goes like this .

Count your blessings, name them one by one and it will surprise you what The Lord has done.

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,

Do not be discouraged, God is over all;

Count your many blessings, angels will attend,

Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Thanking God is a sacrifice that pleases God our Father who made the heavens and the earth. It is often hard to be thankful when one is oppressed, sad, doubtful or weighted with a load of care. But there is always something to be thankful for.

Ten lepers came to Jesus and asked to be healed. Lepers were excluded from the community. They had a disease that caused their extremities to waste away. They suffered mental and physical pain. Jesus had compassion on them and healed them. He told them to go and show themselves to the priest. He would confirm if they were healed. They could return to their homes when healed.

Only one leper returned to look for Jesus to thank him. Jesus made him whole.

How often we take life for granted and seldom thank anyone who helps us.

Don’t be like that. Start thanking others and particularly God today. You will feel better and remain better.
